Philippines Facts
The Philippines is a famous archipelago located in Southeast Asia, which consists of over 7,000 islands and islets. This country gets its name from King Philip II, who was one of the most famous Spanish conquerors to ever rule this land in the 300+ year history of Spanish occupation here.
On average, The Philippines mostly has a monsoonal tropical climate, with constant periods of wet and dry spells. Generally, the period from December to May is characterized by the dry season, while the rest of the year is the wet season. As we move more towards the coasts facing the South China Sea, the wet-dry difference becomes even more stark. Additionally, there are chances of typhoons/cyclones striking this archipelago.
There are also some other facts that one might or might not know about this archipelago: –
1. The Philippines medical college fees are relatively more affordable than its competitors, with the full program fees starting from a mere INR 19-30 Lakh.
2. Students aren’t required to pay any form of donations and/or capitation fees.
3. Getting a Filipino visa is smoother than others as the entire process is completely online.
4. Students also get the visa within 15 days of application, at the minimum.
5. All the top medical colleges in Philippines offer decent accommodations within the campus, the costs of which are included within the total fees.
6. Universities are often located in the more well-off parts of the city, which makes essential services quite accessible (groceries, banks and ATMs, bus stops, and train stations).
7. Living in the Philippines is relatively easier due to the almost similar currency rates; 1 Philippines Peso = INR 1.5 (as of February 2023)
8. Students are taught the curriculum in the class as well as through laboratory sessions, site visits, seminars/conferences with eminent medical professionals, quizzes, debates, and mentor/review classes.

3. After scrutiny of the student’s application, the ADMISSION LETTER/LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION (LoR) is generated. This signifies the acceptance of the student’s application. The MBBS abroad consultant often applies for the letter.
4. This is followed by the DOCUMENTATION process. This mainly includes document verification by the relevant authorities. Along with this, it also includes getting the documents in notarized translations and Apostilles stamps.
5. Once the above is done, the university generates a LETTER OF INVITATION that is the documented confirmation of a student’s admission to the university.
